This is my new song. I’ve been working on it for a few weeks now and It’s different than the others I’ve made.

Before I finished working on my song, Desolate Path (Version 2), I began to work on a new song.  I wanted this song to be able to portray the climb I have gone through in my life over the past few years to figure out who I am, what I want out of life and also how I’ve changed, musically and mentally.

Though there are no lyrics in this song, throughout my time working on the song I actually went to the studio and recorded lyrics to go along with it.  As I got closer to finishing the song I realized that it doesn’t actually need lyrics to help describe what it is actually about, I thought it may have been too much.  In the future, I do want to experiment with adding lyrics to electronic music.

This song gave me the confidence to experiment more with music and it made me believe that it is very possible to improve on everything I create

My main influence for the past year now has been Porter Robinson, an Electronic House artist.  Porter Robinson is currently only the age of 19, he became famous while he was in high school and even toured while he was in school.  He uses the same program that I use to create music, FL Studio.

I envy the sound he puts out there, to his audience, it just sounds so beautiful and awesome and I want to be able to achieve that too some day.  I’m still learning the ins and outs of FL Studio and I think every time I open the program, what I’m doing keeps getting better.

As I was going through the fall semester of my Junior year and working with 3D animation, I started experimenting with my own music on the side.  I have always wanted to create my own electronic music, but I just never got around to it because I never gave myself the time to.  I was finally able to do this now!

I went to my piano and improvised in a few keys to come up with a melody that would make you feel as if you were venturing on a journey, alone.  I then went to my computer and wrote down the melodies I came up with, made instruments to play the notes and eventually created an Electronic House song, called Desolate Path.  This song gave me the confidence to continue forward learning new ways to come up with better sounds and make more of my own music.
